The Vikings used Hemp Sails, Rope and Nets Viking ships were strongly built of oak, and from 40 to 60 horsemen sat on the rower's bench. The ships were pointed at each end so that they could go forward or backward without turning around, and had a single mast with a square sail made of durable and weather resistant Hemp. |
